My name is Charlie Osborne , I own All American Motors in Searcy , Arkansas . It was about 3 1/2 years ago , in my quiet time , that the Lord revealed to me that he wanted me to bring all the different denominations together to give thanks to him . I tried to assure God he had the wrong person for this job . I pled my case , like Moses, that I was in fact the wrong person since I was the prodigal son . In church I would always do what was asked of me but never would take the lead in anything. Finally, in 2005, I went to the Searcy mayor, Belinda Laforce , and presented my idea for the 2005 Praisefest. She loved the idea of getting all the churches together for one night of praise and worship. In our talk she assured me that if I worked really hard at it I might see a turnout of 200 people. She must have saw my face turn white and how embarrassed I was because I wanted to get at least 5000 people together to do this . After our talk I started knocking on the door of all the local churches and businesses trying to assemble the first Praisefest. In a matter of a few short months we had assembled a speaker , 12 praise teams , and the food to feed 4000 people. On the day of the first Praisefest in 2005 we were met with Hurricane Katrina and six tornados on the ground about halfway through the program . Belinda Laforce told me to stop the program and send all the people to safety. This , at the time. was very hard for me to understand. The Lord had wanted me to do this and then I had had such a weather problem. The night of the 2005 Praisefest I learned that my faith would have to show endurance. My faith has endured and Praisefest has doubled in size every year since. For the 2008 Praisefest we are expecting a great turnout again . Brady Weldon will be the main speaker , and 12 praise teams, a drama group, and choir will take the stage. There will be more fun activities for children than ever before. To the best of my knowledge all denominations that believe that that the Lord, Jesus Christ, is the only way to the Father will be at this event.
